FARED SHAFINURY: Persia After Hours - The Beloved
The Getty Villa Museum, the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, and the Farhang Foundation were proud to present the second installment of our Pride edition of the PERSIA AFTER HOURS celebrations, honoring the current PERSIA: ANCIENT IRAN AND THE CLASSICAL WORLD exhibition. For this special evening, we were proud to present master musician and composer Fared Shafinury for his exclusive stage premiere of THE BELOVED, a celebration of Rumi's ancient wisdom of endless love that still survives and reverberates today. The evening included an opening set by DJ Shan Nash, and calligraphy, demonstrations by Mohtadi Mirak. Fared Shafinury's ensemble included Rambod Dargahi (tombak), Naghme Sarang (Kamanche), and Miriam Peretz (choreography/dance). This Pride edition of PERSIA AFTER HOURS was presented in collaboration with RAHA International. Thank you to the maximum capacity audience who joined us for this memorable evening. Our 3rd and final PERSIA AFTER HOURS will take place on Saturday, July 16.
